“Hi, I’m Daniel, the proud owner of Koffie Loods Netherlands. We are a passionate supplier of high-quality coffee, tea and coffee machines. With an extensive range of top brands such as Costadoro and Pellini, we target both private and business customers looking for the perfect cup of coffee.

We sell coffee, tea and, of course, the machines, with a lot of love and passion. Making a good cup of coffee requires more than just high-quality beans, a good machine is of course also important.”

Who is Koffie Loods?

“What sets us apart is our focus on quality and customer satisfaction. In our 150-square-metre showroom in Harderwijk, customers can try out different coffee machines and beans. We have an experience room where guests still unsure about a machine or a particular coffee can come and taste and experience it.

Our main focus is on two premium brands: Costadoro and Pellini. These brands are at the top of our range. We even have exclusive rights for these brands in the Benelux, and they are fantastic, with numerous certifications, organic and coming from insanely beautiful Italian roasters.”

The challenges facing Koffie Loods

“Even though we already had a strong position in the market, we were looking for ways to strengthen customer loyalty and boost sales. Before we started with Maileon, we faced several challenges.

In the past, we used Mailchimp, but we ran into a lot of things there. The features were limited and the support was not what we expected from it. With Maileon, we do get the support we need. The best part, of course, is that you can track abandoned shopping carts. Previously, I had to manually check the back office in PrestaShop to see who had abandoned their cart. That was a real hassle.

We also needed a system that could automatically remind customers, for example, to reorder coffee or cleaning products for their machines. This kind of automated customer communication was completely lacking before Maileon. What I also really like about Maileon is that you can automate and store content blocks. You can easily put the saved blocks right back in. You can also easily change everything, add images, and multiple content blocks.

And of course, I wanted to reduce the cost of retrieving customers through Google Ads. Google Ads were quite pricey, and I was looking for a more effective way to get customers back to our website.”

Coffee Loods’ email marketing strategy

At Koffie Loods, we not only want to promote our products, but also build strong relationships with our customers. Through well-thought-out campaigns and personalised content, we make sure our customers feel valued and keep coming back.

  1. We have one-off promotions on holidays and other special days, such as Father’s Day, King’s Day, Black Friday and more. Then we send all customers an email along the lines of ‘Hey, meet our Costadoro coffee with a one-time 10% discount’.
  2. We also do year-long promotions with, for example, ‘two free glasses when spending 45 euros on Costadoro brand coffee’. And also with Pellini ‘order 45 euros worth of Pellini coffee, then Pellini will give you two cups for free’.
  3. When people order a trial pack of coffee beans, they automatically get a reminder in four or six weeks’ time, “Hey your coffee beans are running low, try this pack with a one-off 5% discount”.

And of course, we use dynamic blocks in our emails to personalise content based on customers’ brand preferences.

Results with Maileon

Since we implemented Maileon, we have seen significant improvements in our email marketing strategy. Whenever we have sent out a newsletter, we get 30/40 orders from it, instantly and every time, so it does pay off. We can also communicate more effectively with our customer base now, with the personalised and segmented emails.

Maileon is just there for us, if we have a question they pick it up, and they fix it. And it’s a cost-effective way to get customers back to the website.
